About The Show

"An impossible order, Remember Everything presents my explorations in various materials, of primarily sculptural forms, highlighting the futility of objects and the diffuse nature of value.

On view at Station 5 Micro-gallery from April 4th through April 20th, this work returns me to the pleasure of the real- the grit of materials, the weight of objects, the dull certainty of what simply is. I care deeply about truth, but truth is never fixed; it shifts, refracts, resists certainty. What matters to me is accepting what is-what can be seen, touched, and known -rather than inventing stories to fill the spaces fear leaves behind.

I find beauty in the unremarkable, the stubborn presence of things that refuse transcendence. In the fragility of objects, the impermanence of materials, and the unreliability of memory, I see something honest-not in repeatability, but in the quiet acknowledgment that nothing is ever truly held still.

Everything changes

Nothing stops.

Remember Everything."

Curatorial Statement

"The thing about Behning’s work is the generosity that he bestows upon the audience. His work acknowledges that the viewer is both highly intelligent and also possesses the ability to perceive the high level of sophistication that he is presenting to us. He is telling us something but what he is really doing is compelling us to get into the inside story he has that we wish were apart of, and perhaps are, or were, or at the very least are now. He shows us that a true artist can make divinly with anything, if their eye is developed enough and their mind is open enough to let itself be perceived.

That being said this type of actual material mastery takes years to develop. We must also acknowledge and ground into the realness that some people are just born with this. This ability to channel something that stops you in your tracks. His sophisticated use of materials has brought me to tears often. Reminding us that life is made of the ephemeral, and everyone else is trying too damn hard . He has the Midas touch. It’s humbling as the audience to be reminded that when one is simply living artfully, great things and mundane things become utterly divine, such as a crumpled piece of paper. When they become exalted then we too must become utterly aware of the etheric beautiful nature of moments in all their complexities, inside our own human existence and all the reverence they deserve.”
